New for 2020: Tell a Joke

Last extra competition for festival week.  Help us celebrate the dry humour of the North East of Scotland.  Since we can't have our new standup and tell a joke class, we are opening up this idea for emailed submissions.  It is something for everyone at home to get involved with.  Family friendly humour only please. Entries will be displayed on festival website in due course (translations will be available for anyone who needs them!!) We are delighted that Mary Dey, teacher of Scottish Literature at Mackie Academy, has kindly agreed to Judge. Entries please by Wednesday 3rd June to: info@nespa.scot

Competition 2: Photographing the Performing Arts - Class B

Calling all photographers for this one-off addition to the festival for 2020.  We are looking for an image to celebrate literature and drama in this time of lockdown.  The competition is open to all, no age limit, and will be judged in 3 age categories: Primary school age Secondary school age Age 18 and above Some guidelines:  The image should be- a jpeg in colour or black & white-  your own work-  taken within the last six months, or state if earlier than that-  so-far unpublished (social media excluded).-  particularly for the adult age group, entrants are encouraged to give the image a title, and a brief description of the circumstances in which it was taken. Competition 1: Design a Cover

Fresh ideas sought for 2021 please. Can you design a cover for the June festival syllabus and programme?  No specific requirements other something vibrant  to celebrate the performing arts, specifically Music and Drama; to attract performers, audiences and volunteers.  The booklets are both A5 size.  The cover is usually the basis for A4 posters advertising the event, and any suitable part may be used as a logo/banner for other events throughout 2020/2021. The design can be drawn, painted, or created using any relevant software.  Just so long as it can be converted into a format: pdf, png, etc. that the technophobes are Festival HQ will be able to handle.
